What GSM tells you
GSM measures fabric mass per square metre. A higher number usually feels heavier and more substantial, while a lower number usually feels lighter and more breathable.
It does not measure quality by itself. Fibre, yarn, knit construction, finishing and shrinkage control all affect the garment. Compare composition and construction alongside the number.
When 200 GSM is a useful starting point
A 200 GSM T-shirt provides a lighter, versatile base for company apparel, restaurants, conferences, clubs and everyday merchandise. The Garmops catalogue includes regular- and boxy-fit 200 GSM options.
Climate and wearer activity matter, but fabric weight alone cannot guarantee comfort. Use the actual sample, fit and operating environment to approve the choice.
When 260 GSM suits the brief
A 260 GSM T-shirt has a heavier, more structured feel that can suit premium employee apparel, studio merchandise and streetwear-inspired collections. Garmops offers regular- and boxy-fit heavyweight options.
The additional weight may influence drape, warmth, decoration choice and unit price. It should not be described as universally better than a lighter garment.
Fit changes the effect of fabric weight
A regular fit uses a more familiar body shape, while a boxy fit is wider and commonly uses a dropped shoulder. A 260 GSM boxy tee therefore combines both a heavier fabric and a more pronounced silhouette.
Use the product-specific measurement chart and a physical sample. Do not assume that a wearer’s usual regular-fit size should be copied into an oversized product.
Printing, embroidery and price
Screen printing, DTG and DTF can work on appropriate 200 GSM and 260 GSM products, subject to fabric, garment colour, artwork and process review. Embroidery can suit compact marks, but density and placement should be sampled when puckering or comfort is a concern.
At current Garmops base pricing, the 200 GSM T-shirts start at ₹535 per piece and 260 GSM T-shirts start at ₹565 before GST and shipping. Quantity, artwork, techniques, labels, samples and deadline can change the final quote.
Frequently asked questions
Is 260 GSM better than 200 GSM?
No single weight is universally better. Choose 200 GSM for a lighter, versatile garment and 260 GSM for more weight and structure, then review fit, use, artwork and budget.
Does higher GSM mean higher quality?
Not by itself. Fibre, yarn, knit, construction, finishing and shrinkage control also affect quality and performance.
Should we sample both weights?
A physical comparison is useful when garment feel, drape, fit, climate or decoration support is important to the order.
